I played hookie this morning from my workout (which looked like a damn blast). I don't feel very good about it, but I'm fighting a rogue illness that has been gaining speed for the last week or so. I had been craving Tex-Mex slop enchiladas for days, and after a conversation about appeasing illness related cravings with my Team Phoenix ladies, I went for it last night. Dario's made the poison and it was damn good. Combined with the extra rest this morning, I think I may have beaten it.
I still feel like I missed out on a party this morning. Bah.
Rest was absolutely needed and judging by how many people keep dropping like flies around me, I'd rather my rest days be taken by choice instead of by force.
As this morning continues my cravings have gone from food to workouts, and I can't get box jumps and kettlebell swings out of my mind. I always crave burpees, because obviously I'm filled with self hate. I think I'll throw all three together tonight; rounds and reps will depend on how my guilt grows by the end of the day....

Please take a moment to review this infographic on the environmental impact and monetary cost of consuming bottled water. There are other methods for obtaining clean drinking water which are cheaper and better for our planet. Don't fall prey to fancy marketing.

I, too, took an unplanned but seemingly necessary rest day today. I'm not "sick," but I don't feel 100% like myself. I was lying in bed thinking, "I should get up. I should get up." but as the minutes ticked by, I just couldn't compel myself to do it.
I made Dave promise we could do box jumps and KB swings and pushups and running tomorrow. My body is craving it now, but I just couldn't get mind and body in agreement this morning.
'Tis the season, I guess. I'm tempted to say "Bah, humbug."
A doctor once told me that one of the first signs of getting sick is a mild depression, possibly to store energy for the immune system. I think it's a good sign that both of us are craving workouts now. I'm certainly glad I put those enchiladas behind me. :o)
It must have been the day for taking a break. I finally said enough and not only stayed home from the workout but also work! and unfortunately I am not craving any workouts! Erika, I have been meaning to tell you that your pull-ups look quite awesome these days. I watched you the other day and that little kip thing seems to just propel your chin right over the bar. We will have to discuss methods sometime. I like yours.
About the water thing. I don't like tap water but also wanted to get rid of the plastic so Zach recommended the Berkey water filter and I love it. You can even get fluoride filters for it (fluoride also freaks me out a bit). Check it out at berkeyfilters.com.
Rest up and feel better! The burpees will always be there when you get back!
Yeah, I drank some spark when I got home and sat on the couch staring at my feet. If spark can't motivate me into moving, I'm not sure what will. So, I took the dog for a light jog around the neighborhood. Burpees have to wait.
Sally, thanks for the pull ups props! I'm putting most of my energy into the swing and not relying on the pull as much. It's been sapping my energy, I can't get more than 6-7 at a time (I stop to regrip, but don't let go), but that number has increased from 3 since changing my method. Hit me up about pull up practice, I'm down with that. Thanks for the tip about the filters! Kito and I have been using the refillable 5 gallon jugs and have saved an immense amount of money. We both have liter sized, non leeching bottles to refill and take with us into the world. This also helps me keep track of my water intake throughout the day. I'm just so over the bottled water marketing machine. It's such bullshit.
about bottled h20: i have never been a fan... but after owning a cafe and having access to "free" sparkling water, i got addicted to the bubbles. rather than spend moolah on water that fizes, (not to mention feel guilty about preferring the water from Italy!) i asked around, did a little research online and now we bubble our own water. have not bought any bottled water w/ bubbles for a year! check out home systems. the soda stream uses recycled plastic and you send the cartridges back to be refilled. i buy new cartridges at william sonoma and return the used ones there as well. excellent savings! easy to use. and not much counter space at all!
