Opportunity

This morning an entire thermos of coffee spilled out onto the floorboard of my car, after a morning of dwelling on negative memories.

Universe says: "Want something to complain about, do ya?"

Back a few months ago I was having a bad day. A really, really bad day. I can't remember what was so terrible, but bow howdy was I wearing an epic frown. While in the grocery store a bird took a shit on my head. Yep. INSIDE the store.

Universe says: "Feel like the world is shitting on you?"

Mr. Universe has a wicked sense of humor, and I beseech you to avoid giving that dodgey bastard a reason to dole some of it out at your expense. Sometimes the best defense against a bad day is laughing in the face of misfortune.

Not to change the subject, but I really need to go on an adventure in the next year. I'd like to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro and I'm looking into what I need to do to make that happen. I always get turned off by money, and when something starts to venture in the thousands of dollars, I tend to dismiss it. Plus, it's slightly terrifying to me to be in a plane for that long and completely alone.... Whew. But the idea of hiking to the summit of a mountain to watch the sunrise is so intoxicating to me, I just may pull it off.

This is what I would see.

Africa is still on my list of Must-Step-Foot-Upon's. If you want someone in the plane seat next to you and/or hiking up the mountain, let me know. But be sure to think about it first...if you want it to be a solo trek of enlightenment or a friend/shared trek.

PS - sorry about the new coffee stain :( Hopefully, it smells good and your car will wake you up every morning :)

i'm completely undecided on how i want this to pan out. i'm not an experienced traveler by any means, and i wonder how smart it is to plan my first trip abroad around climbing a mountain in Africa by myself. maybe i should go with someone and save the solo expedition for when i have more miles logged around the globe? i'm sure i could pull it off by myself, and it would be life changing on an epic level...but i'm not sure if i want to invite that caliber of baptism by fire on the other side of the world.

you would be an awesome partner to share that journey with. this is the tour company that i'm considering: http://www.africatravelresource.com

ah yes, coffee stains. my car will get a once over at genie car wash this weekend. i'm not ready for stains!!!!!!

Okay... while I would not be laughing at the time time a bird shat on me INSIDE a grocery store, on my friggin' head, your post made it light-hearted enough to be a good reminder to just let some things roll. Including giving yourself time to just have a rotten day once in ahile--if only to come back again after awhile and laugh at it all.

On a side note, I completely forgot you're not in my morning class as a regular. I get so excited seeing you there, so naturally, I missed your presence. You're just that good of a partner, gurl!
